International Study Seminar – Day 8, Taiwan

Tuesday, March 13

Logan Frye & Jacki Langlois – Presiding Fellows

The class began Day 10 of our journey by packing up and heading to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Saigon.  Boarding the flight to Taiwan concluded the Vietnam portion of the international study seminar.

With most of the day dedicated to travel, we arrived in Taiwan around 5:00pm and checked into our accommodations at the Riverview Hotel in Taipei.  The class continued the evening with a group meal at Haibawang Restaurant and made the decision to visit Taipei 101 (skyscraper) in the evening.

Taipei 101 provided excellent views of the city from 1,285 ft above.  At the time of completion, the skyscraper was the tallest building in the world and held the spot up until 2015.  The structure was built to withstand typhoon strength winds and earthquake tremors (common in this area) and includes a state of the art “balancer” to aid in the sway of the upper floors. This was a true welcome to a beautiful city and unique countryside.

As a class we have been very fortunate as we’ve had great weather, trouble free travel, and have maintained health. As the world continues to shrink on us, so does our time together.  We are all looking forward to these last few days of the international study seminar in Taiwan.
